PITTSBURGH--Members of the Pitt track and field teams are set to compete in three separate events this weekend. Several athletes will be travelling to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational and Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays, while others will remain local for the Western PA Championships in Pittsburgh.
The Panthers look to extend the success from last weekend at the Miami Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla. Both the men's and women's teams displayed solid performances, with several members posting top finishes.
For the men, junior Ron Walter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) claimed third place in the pole vault with a height of 4.75 meters.
Miami native Martina Hallman finished in the top three in the women's long jump at the Hurricane Invitational. Hallman (Miami, Fla., Miami Southridge) also grabbed third place in the event with a distance of 5.81 meters.
Following this weekend's events, the Panthers will once again be on the road when they head to Austin, Texas for the Texas Relays on April 2-5.
