INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Jeremy Stultz, an All-America diver at Pitt, was named a recipient of the NCAA Winter Postgraduate Scholarship by the NCAA on Tuesday.
Stultz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) will be awarded a $7,500 scholarship to be used toward graduate school expenses at Pitt next year, while enrolled in the Pharmacy program.
"Jeremy represents the very best of the University of Pittsburgh," said Athletics Director Steve Pederson. "His dedication to excellence in each aspect of his life is both exemplary and inspiring. We know Jeremy is going to continue to accomplish great things and we could not be more proud of him."
"Jeremy is the quintessential collegiate athlete," head swimming and diving coach Chuck Knoles said. "He is a good leader, an accomplished student, and a successful academic. We are fortunate to have been able to count him as one of our own."
Earlier this year, Stultz was named the Big East Conference/Aeropostale Male Athlete of the Year and is one of 58 students to earn the NCAA Winter Postgraduate Scholarship. He is just one of 10 athletes from a swimming and diving team to earn this honor from the NCAA this year.
Honored by Pitt's Athletic Department as the male recipient of the Blue-Gold Award, Stultz served as a team captain of the men's swimming and diving team as a junior and senior. He has been named a two-time Big East Diver of the Year and is a four-time Big East Champion in diving.
As a junior, Stultz won the 3M board at the NCAA Diving Zones and became Pitt's first All-America selection since 1997 with a seventh-place finish on the same board at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
Stultz, a three-time Big East Academic All-Star, also made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll each year. In addition, he has been on the Dean's List at least once every year. He has been a Pitt Academic Achievement awardee, four-time recipient of the Pitt Gold Club and a two-time recipient of the Pharmacy Dean's Honor list.
This scholarship is presented to student-athletes in their final season of competition who have shown high performances in both the classroom and on the playing field. Since 1964, this NCAA scholarship has annually been awarded to 174 student-athletes promoting and encouraging postgraduate education.
