OMAHA, Neb.—Representing the University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving team in three events during the 2008 Olympic Swimming Trials held in the Qwest Center, Kristin Brown has turned in three top-35 U.S. times, this week.
Her top finish of the week was in the 400 free, where she originally placed 28th at 4:15.89. However, after a time trial on Wednesday, Brown improved upon her 29th-place time of 2:01.21 in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.89. Her time trial boosted her to a top-20 U.S. finish that would have been 14th overall in the prelims the day prior.
She later completed her goal of finishing faster than her qualifying time in the 100 free when she swam a 56.01. Her time also improved her ranking from 62nd to 32nd overall in that event.
Additionally, 2005 graduate Jason Miller and senior Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) will swim in the trials this weekend.
Swimming in the third heat of 14 races, Miller enters the 100 fly with a qualifying time of 55.48, today. Then on Saturday, Safritt will compete in the 50 free for the Panthers.
