Muldowney a Good Fit in Florida

PITTSBURGH – Former University of Pittsburgh baseball player Billy Muldowney recently completed his second season of professional play with the Chicago Cubs minor league organization. Muldowney was an eighth-round draft pick in the 2006 MLB Player Draft by the Cubs.
Muldowney started the season with the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League, where he posted a 1-0 record in seven starts for the Chiefs. He tossed 31.0 innings, yielding just 17 hits while striking out 25 batters and maintaining a 2.61 ERA.
Muldowney was promoted to the Daytona Cubs, Chicago’s Single A advanced affiliate in the Florida State League. With Daytona, he made 11 starts for the Cubs, tallying a 5-3 mark in 54.1 innings pitched. While holding opponents to a .235 batting average, Muldowney struck out 35 batters and registered a sub-3.00 ERA.
