Women's Volleyball Comes Back In Win Over Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.--For the second consecutive match, the Panthers came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 over Seton Hall, in Walsh Gym, this afternoon. Pitt won with scores of 15-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-16 and 15-8.
Senior Nicole Taurence (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) collected 34 assists and 12 digs for a double-double, while sophomore Amy Town (Orillia, Ont./Orillia) tallied 11 kills and 10 digs.
Additionally, senior Kelly Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Pacific) led the team with 18 kills, while junior Michelle Rossi (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) recorded 19 digs.
Pitt (9-7, 2-0) turned the match around in the third set with six kills from Campbell and five team blocks. In the contest, the Panthers trailed 18-15 and took a timeout. Coming out of the huddle, Pitt went on an 8-5 run and ties the set at 23-23 thanks to a kill from senior Jessica Moses (North Olmstead, Ohio/Lutheran West).
Pitt then faced two match points for the Wildcats (7-8, 1-1) and earned the sideout. After tying the contest at 25, Taurence set Town for a kill to give the Panthers a set point. Seton Hall called a timeout to talk it over, but a Wildcat attack error on the next play gave the Panthers the win.
In the fourth set, the Panthers were in full control with a .344 hitting percentage and six kills from Campbell. Then in the deciding match Moses tallied three block assists, while the team stuffed five, collectively.
Seton Hall's first set included 15 kills and a .343 hitting clip, however the Panthers held them to less than a .100 percentage the rest of the match. In the deciding set, the Wildcats had just four kills and a negative .09 attack percentage.
The Panthers had a season-high 14 blocks in the match, including six block assists from Moses. Junior Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) posted 10 kills in the match.
Pitt returns to the Fitzgerald Field House on Saturday, Oct. 4, against USF at 2 p.m.
