Women's Volleyball Host Backyard Rival in

<>PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team will host its Backyard Rival West Virginia on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in its "Blocking Out Breast Cancer" match at Fitzgerald Field House.
Head coach Toby Rens is encouraging all Panther fans to wear pink, in order to support finding a cure for breast cancer.
October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" and sports teams from all levels, including women's volleyball programs, are promoting breast cancer awareness by raising awareness and money for the cause. Prior to the match, Pitt will make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. If fans would like to support the effort, information will be available on making donations, as well.
A representative from the Susan G. Komen Foundation with speak at intermission in hopes of raising awareness. Fans will also be entertained by Pitt's Kappa Alpha Psi step team during the break.
The Panthers are coming off their eighth shutout victory of the season, and lead the all-time series against West Virginia with a perfect 38-0 record.
Junior Amy Town is coming off a match-high 13 kills and a season-best .722 hitting clip over the Blue Demons. Town and senior Meagan Dooley lead the team with 320 kills and 16 service aces each.
