PITTSBURGH—Looking to extend its five-match win streak, the University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team hosts Seton Hall and Rutgers, at Fitzgerald Field House, this weekend. The Panthers face Seton Hall on Friday, Nov. 13, at 5:00 p.m. and Rutgers on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1:00 p.m. Additionally, Pitt will honor its three seniors on Sunday, in their home finale of the season.
Coming off their school record eighth conference shutout of the season, the Panthers have already solidified a spot in the 2009 Big East Championships, which begins next weekend, in Louisville, Ky. She is also 15th overall in points per set (5.02) and 18th in NCAA hitting percentage (.380). Additionally, sophomore Allyson Hodnik is listed as No. 23 on the NCAA rankings for assist per set (11.15) and has 1,026 assists to-date on the season.
Seton Hall (11-17, 5-7 Big East) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Connecticut. The Pirates are led by libero Jessica Isaac, who had 23 digs in their last match. Pitt leads the all-time series 22-3.
Rutgers (10-17, 3-9 Big East) faces West Virginia, on Saturday, and enters the weekend after recording a 3-2 victory over St. John’s. The Scarlet Knights are led by Caitlin Saxton, who was a Big East weekly honor roll selection, this past week. Pitt is 24-5 in the all-time series.
