Swimming and Diving Earns Votes in the CSCAA Poll

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh men's and women’s swimming and diving teams earned votes in the College Swim Coaches Association (CSCAA) dual meet poll, as announced by the CSCAA.
The Panthers’ men’s team (2-2, 1-2 Big East) has earned wins over St. Bonaventure (159-139) and Cincinnati (177-122), but fell short against #13 ranked Louisville (140-130) and Notre Dame (179-121), who also received votes.
Freshman Jared Kolwyck turned in his best time of the season in the 1,000 free against Notre Dame, placing second at 9:47.18. In the same meet, sophomore Otto Pagel won the 200 free, touching the wall at 1:41.08.
In the diving events, junior Collin Forner won the 3M against Notre Dame with 330.30 points and took second on the 1M board with a score of 301.50.
On the women’s side, Pitt (3-1, 1-1 Big East) has convincing wins over St. Bonaventure (254-44), Cincinnati (196-104) and Akron (181-111). The Panthers remarkably won all 16 events against St. Bonaventure, while their lone lost of the season was to No. 15 Louisville 168.5-74.5.
Freshman Elizabeth Tabor was named the Pitt Performer of the Meet against SBU, winning the 1,000 free at 10:27.65. Additionally, senior Margo Ekstrom won both diving events, scoring 246.97 points on the 1M and then 261.45 points on the 3M.
Against Louisville, senior Lisa McDonnell won the 200 free (1:50.67) and placed second in the 100 free (51.25). Later in the Akron meet, she was a multi-event winner, finishing first in both the 100 and 200 free with times of 51.59 and 1:51.02, respectively.
This weekend, Pitt’s divers resume competition as they travel to Bloomington, Ind. for the Hoosierland Divers Invitational on Friday, Nov. 20.
