PITTSBURGH—Pitt’s divers continue to dominate the Big East, as they swept both diving events, despite the University of Pittsburgh men’s swimming and diving team suffered a 140-103 loss to conference foe Louisville, this evening, at Trees Pool. The Panthers fell to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Big East.
Consistent with recent years, the Panthers dominated the diving events as juniors Zane McLain, Collin Forner and Charles Hauser swept the 1M event. Later, Forner won the 3M board and McLain and junior Jason Erdeljac completed the sweep.
In the pool, freshman Hussein Medhat won the 200 free (1:40.89), while sophomore Otto Pagel was fourth in the same event.
Medhat was also the first leg of the winning 400 free relay team. He was joined by Pagel, junior Andrzej Dubiel and senior Justin Corvin.
Earlier in a close race, Corvin finished second in the 50 free. Later, he was third in the 100 free, which was a race that separated second and third by just five hundredths of a second.
Also, Dubiel finished second in the 200 back and classmate Bobby Smith placed third.
In another second-place performance, sophomore Rousseau Kluever recorded a time of 1:53.46 in the 200 fly, while Geoff Morgan was fourth in the same event.
In a top-three finish, freshman Nick Sharp was third in the 200 breast at 2:07.90.
