
Reed and Sedon Selected to Big East Honor Roll

PITTSBURGH — Junior lefthander Nate Reed and junior second baseman Chris Sedon were both selected to the Big East Conference’s Weekly Honor Roll following their performances against West Virginia University in the final regular-season series May 15-16.
Reed picked up his second straight Big East win on Thursday, May 15. The lefty scattered 10 hits in the complete-game effort, allowing just one run – unearned – while striking out a season-high seven Mountaineer batters. His selection to the conference’s final weekly awards marked the first time this season.
In two games against WVU Sedon slugged 1.444 and batted .444 (4-for-9) with three home runs and seven RBI, helping the Panthers clinch a spot in the 2009 Big East Championship Tournament. In Thursday’s 9-1 win over the Mountaineers, Sedon hit two home runs, the second time this season he has accomplished the feat. His honor roll selection marks the fourth time this season he has been honored.
The Panthers will be in action Tuesday, May 19th at the Big East Championship Tournament when they meet No. 2 seed South Florida at 8 p.m. at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. The game will be televised live on the Bright House Sports Network and will feature a live radio broadcast on Sirius XM Satellite radio on channel 203 for XM subscribers and channel 213 for subscribers to the Best of XM package.
