OMAHA, Neb. - University of Pittsburgh junior second baseman Chris Sedon was named to the All-Ping! Baseball Third Team, announced Ping! Baseball late last week.
This award marks the second national post-season honor for Sedon this year, as he became just the third player in Pitt history to earn Louisville Slugger First Team All-America honors in late May.
In his first year at Pitt, Sedon produced one of the finest seasons by a Panther baseball player. He set single-season school records for home runs (22), total bases (160) and runs scored (65) and placed among the top five in two other categories, including slugging percentage (.796) and RBI (62).
An All-Big East First Team selection, Sedon batted .402 during the regular season and was named to the Big East Conference Weekly Honor Roll four times. He started the year off with a nine-game hitting streak and added two separate eight-game hitting streaks along the way. Sedon also hit at least one home run in 12 of Pitt’s final 16 games, including each of the last four contests.
In Pitt’s two Big East Championship games, he tallied two home runs and four RBI in losses to No. 2 South Florida and No. 3 West Virginia.
There are 125 players from across the nation that comprise the All-Ping! teams, the equivalent of the top one percent of collegiate players.
