Joe Leonard Named To Cal Ripken, Sr. All-League Team

Pitt third baseman Joe Leonard has been named to the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball All-League Team for 2009, representing the Youse's Orioles.
Earlier this summer, Leonard (Dawson, Pa./Connellsville) played in the Mid-Atlantic Classic, for the Cal Ripken, Sr. League, which was played on July 15 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Md.
Leonard finished the summer league season with a .346 average, 45 hits and 25 RBI, which all led the Orioles. On the 15-player all-conference team, Leonard was joined by four of his teammates.
The Cal Ripken, Sr. League is comprised of eight teams from the Maryland/Washington D.C./Virginia area including the Alexandria Aces, Bethesda Big Train, College Park Bombers, Herndon Braves, Maryland Redbirds, Rockville Express, Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts and Youse's Orioles.
Leonard started all 42 games he played for Pitt this past season, batting .316 with 35 RBI, which was good enough for second on the team.
