Kishbaugh Sets Two Pool Records at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH—Pitt’s women’s swimming and diving team set 10 pool records at Towers Pool, as the Panthers earned a 199.5-60.5 victory over Duquesne, this afternoon.
Senior Ryann Kishbaugh was named Pitt Performer of the Meet after she set two Towers Pool records on the day. First, Kishbaugh won the 100 back with a season-best time of 57.46. She later placed first in the 200 back, as she touched the wall at 2:05.62 which was nearly four seconds faster than the next swimmer.
Finishing nearly 30 seconds ahead of the pack, freshman Kelsey Herbst won the 1000 free when she touched the wall at a pool record 10:08.28. She later created another facility standard when she won the 500 free at 4:59.22.
In the first event of the day, Pitt’s 200 medley relay team of freshman Joanna Budzis, junior Laura Barnes and Caitlin Trant and sophomore Kristen McMullan combined for a Towers Pool record time of 1:46.76.
Winning two events, Barnes rewrote the 100 breast record at 1:06.07 and won the 200 breast at 2:24.13. Also, Budzis would win the 200 free with a pool record time of 1:52.64.
Also setting pool records, junior Cookie McIntyre won the 200 fly at 2:06.50, while sophomore Tamara Lelli won the 100 fly. Trant and McMullan completed the sweep in the 100 fly.
Then, in the final event of the meet, the 200 free relay team of sophomore Yolandi Van Rooyen, McMullan, sophomore Elena Spak and Budzis turned in a pool record of 1:36.89.
Earlier in the meet, Spak out-reached McMullan in the 50 free, placing first at 24.40. Additionally, Van Rooyen finished third in the same event.
In a sweep, senior Lisa McDonnell won the 100 free (52.94), while Lelli and Spak trailed for second and third, respectively.
Lastly, senior Sophie Cross won the 200 IM (2:09.32) in the final individual event of the day.
The Panthers will travel to Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, Jan. 30, for a meet against Virginia.
