Town and Harper Earn All-Big East Nods

PITTSBURGH, Pa.—Seniors Amy Town and Imani Harper earn All-Big East accolades, as announced by Big East officials, this evening at the Westin Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
Town earned her second consecutive All-Big East selection, and her first as a First Team honoree. As team captain, Town has led the team with 417 kills, 27 aces and 4.18 points per set average. She currently ranks third in the Big East in points and fourth in kills.
With seven double-doubles in her senior year, Town boasts 1,202 career kills and 660 career digs. She has moved into the top-10 for all-time career kills, as a result. This season, she has recorded 20 or more kills in six matches, and posted a season-high 25 kills against Robert Morris. Town also recorded a career-high in blocks with five against Tulane. In her four years at Pitt, Town has also chipped in a total of 134 blocks, 66 service aces and 62 assists.
Just after celebrating her birthday, Harper earned her first All-Big East selection, garnering Second Team accolades. The team’s leader in blocks (94), she has recorded 15 solo blocks, to-date. Offensively, Harper has 298 kills with a .325 hitting percentage, which ranks in the Big East top-10. In her career, she has posted 272 total blocks and tallied 545 kills, including just two seasons as a starter.
She recorded 10 blocks in back-to-back matches against SFU and George Washington, this season. Harper also set a career-high with 21 kills against DePaul, and later matched that total against West Virginia. She has recorded double-digit kills 13 times this season, and 19 times in her career.
The Panthers look to earn their 12th Big East title, as they face Marquette tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the fourth quarterfinal match of the day. The Big East Championships begin at 10 a.m. with a match between Villanova and Notre Dame at Fitzgerald Field House.
