Three Panthers Record ECAC Standards

AKRON, Ohio—Three members of Pitt’s women’s track and field team qualified for the ECAC Championships, as the Panthers competed in the Akron Invitational, this weekend.
Three Panthers earned a spot in the finals of the 60M hurdles. Senior Brianna Broyles and freshman Brittany Carroll finished fifth and sixth, respectively, falling under the ECAC qualifying standard of 8.84. Finishing seventh, junior Jazmin Hunt qualified for the Big East Championships with a time of 8.87.
Junior Wunmi Fapohunda qualified for the ECACs with a leap of 5.72 in the long jump. She finished fourth overall in the event.
Competing in the pentathlon, senior Erinn McMahon finished 12th overall with 2,978 points. In the meet, McMahon won her flight of the 60M hurdles and tied for fifth in the high jump. Additionally, sophomore Kathryn Bannantine tallied 2,803 points for a 14th-place finish.
Junior Alexis Wilder posted a top-five finish, as she hurled the discus 39.11M. In that same event, sophomore Robin Gilmore sailed the discus 37.88M for seventh place.
The Panthers will travel to New York for the Big East Championships on Feb. 20-21.
