McIntosh Finishes Third At ECAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass.—Several Panthers advanced to the finals, as Pitt’s women’s track and field team returned from the 2010 ECAC Championships, held at Reggie Lewis Track.
Leading the Pitt with a top-three finish, freshman Rachael McIntosh took third in the pentathlon with 3546 points. Her best performance of the weekend was in the high jump, where she placed second thanks to a leap of 1.71M. She earned 867 points in that event.
Additionally, sophomore Kaitlyn Flynn recorded 3304 points in the pentathlon, tying for eighth.
Junior Da’Lynn Mills recorded a fifth-place finish in the meet, as she turned in a time of 7.67 in the finals of the 60M dash. Joining Mills in the finals, sophomore Cambrya Jones slipped to seventh overall, after finishing second in the prelims.
Later, in the 200M dash, Jones was 12th and Mills was 22nd.
Senior Brianna Broyles improved to eighth overall in the finals of the 60M hurdles with a time of 8.71 In the prelims of that same event, freshman Brittany Carroll was 13th overall at the 8.82 mark, while sophomore Jazmin Hunt just made the cut off for the finals with a time of 8.88. Then in the semifinals, Carroll and Hunt took 14th and 15th, respectively.
Senior Kari Hedderick placed 11th in the 500M dash at 1:16.26, while freshman Ashley Woodford posted a 14th-place performance in the 60M dash.
Earning the final spot in the finals in their respective events, sophomore Wunmi Fapohunda turned in a 16th–place performance in the long jump, while senior Kaetlyn Brown was 16th in the 400M dash.
On the final day of competition, Pitt’s 4x400M relay team turned in a fifth-place performance in the prelims, earning a combined time of 3:48.18. However, the Panthers slipped to ninth in the finals (3:48.71). The squad was made up of Brown, Broyles, Hedderick and freshman Jonnique Lawrence.
Post-season action continues, as the Panthers set to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13.
