Swimming and Diving Earns All-Academic Honors

CHICAGO, Ill.—Pitt’s women’s swimming and diving team earned its 11th consecutive All-Academic distinction, while three women and four men garnered CSCAA Scholar Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
Improving upon last season’s 3.14 cumulative GPA, the Panther’s women’s squad improved to a 3.36 GPA. At the conclusion of this past spring semester, Pitt’s women’s swimming and diving team held the highest overall team GPA on campus.
Among Division I schools, Gardner-Webb led the way with a 3.625, followed by Evansville with a 3.59. Pitt was one of 10 Big East women's teams to earn this distinction.
Individually, recent graduate Lisa McDonnell, senior Kristen McMullen and junior Elena Spak earned a nod on the CSCAA Scholar Honorable Mention All-America list. Pitt’s three individual honorable mention honorees ties Louisville and Cincinnati for the most among Big East member schools.
On the men’s side, recent graduate and 200 IM record holder Jonathan Buchanan, junior Rousseau Kluever and sophomores Adam Maczewski and Hussein Medhat recorded a CSCAA Scholar Honorable Mention All-America selection. Pitt’s four awardees ranked second among Big East member schools.
Last season, two Panthers, Sabrina Jennings and Colin Forner, earned an individual honorable mention accolade.
