Pitt Women Shine in 200M at Penn State Nationals

PITTSBURGH - Pitt women's track and field team recorded six top-five finishes at the Penn State Nationals on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers took the top two spots in the 200M dash.
In the second event of the women's meet, senior Da'Lynn Mills and junior Cambrya Jones finished first and second, respectively, in the 200M dash. Both runners set season bests with Mills crossing the finish line at 23.96 and Jones close behind at 24.13.
Senior Kaetlyn Brown earned a fifth place finish in the 400M Dash with a season best time of 56.20.
In the triple jump, two Pitt freshmen claimed top-10 finishes. Ashley Corum took fifth place (12.27m) while Julia Koloski claimed ninth overall (12.12m). Both athletes set season and career bests.
Sophomore Elizabeth Kline shattered her career best score in the pentathlon, tallying 3,337 points. Kline's previous high came earlier this season when she collected 3,181 points at the Kent State Gala.
The women's 4x400 team of Brianna Broyles, Brown, Mills, and Jonnique Lawrence rounded out the top-5 finishes, with a fourth place showing (3:44.09).
Several other athletes also set season best efforts in the meet.
Lawrence set a season best in the 400M Dash (57.73) while freshman Jordan Lee bested her time of 1:18.00 with a 1:17.42 performance in the 500M Dash.
In the pole vault invitational, senior Tory Toso jumped to a season best 3.60m.
The women's team will be back in action this upcoming week at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. The two day event begins on Friday Feb. 4 and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 5 in New York, New York.
