Women's Volleyball Plays Robert Morris on Wednesday

PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team travels to crosstown rival Robert Morris on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. The match will be held at the Sewall Center.
Pitt (13-7, 3-3 Big East) enters the contest with a 10-4 non-conference record, including wins in two of its last three. During non-conference play, the Panthers have been led by sophomore Monica Wignot with a 3.74 kills per set average.
As a team, Pitt has outblocked its opponents 109.5-79 and holds a 1.78 service aces per set average.
Robert Morris (8-12) dropped its last two matches to Northeast Conference opponents Bryant (3-2) and Central Connecticut State (3-1). Hannah Veith leads the Colonials with 3.04 kills per set. Additionally, Lindsey Monger became the first member of the squad since 2005 to collect five double-doubles in five consecutive matches.
Last season, the Panthers played Robert Morris twice, earning 3-0 and 3-2 victories, respectively. In the second meeting, junior Margy Acton set a school and Fitzgerald Field House record with 45 digs in the five-set thriller. Acton is currently averaging 4.72 digs per set on the year and 4.88 in non-conference play.
