Swimming and Diving Hosts its Pitt Invitational This Weekend

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving team will host its three-day invitational from Friday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 20 at Trees Pool.
The meet opens on Friday with the prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, women’s 1M and men’s 3M diving at 10 a.m. The finals will start at 6 p.m. and include the 400 medley relay.
On Saturday, the prelims begin at 10 a.m. with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, men’s 1M diving and women’s 3M diving. The evening swims commence at 6 p.m. with the 200 medley relay and conclude with the 800 free relay.
Action opens at 9 a.m. on Sunday with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving and the 1650 free. The finals will start at 3 p.m. and include the 400 free relay.
Invited teams include the men’s and women’s squads from Cincinnati, Connecticut and West Virginia, while Ohio State’s women and Michigan’s divers will also participate in the meet.
The Panthers swept Cincinnati on Friday, Nov. 11. The men tallied a 237-60 victory after winning all 16 events. On the women’s side, Pitt registered a 217-82 victory as juniors Joanna Budzis and Kelsey Herbst claimed two individual first-place finishes each.
In diving, both the men and the women’s squads turned in individual season bests.
