Women's Swimming and Diving Falls 193-102 to Louisville

PITTSBURGH—Junior Kelsey Herbst captured a first-place finish, however, the University of Pittsburgh women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 193-102 decision to Louisville at Joe C. Trees Pool on Friday afternoon.
Herbst was the only swimmer to touch the wall under five minutes in the 500 free. She won the event with a season-best 4:57.48*. Herbst was also third in the 1000 free (10:14.91) and was the first Panther to finish the 200 free (1:54.40).
Freshman Cam Dixon earned top-three finishes in multiple events, placing second in the 100 breast at 1:04.93* and third in the 200 IM (2:06.14*).
In the 100 free, freshman Dani des Tombe was second overall (52.54*), while freshman Tatyanna Sarjeant was third in the event. des Tombe was also third in the 50 free (24.28),
In the first swimming event of the contest, Pitt’s 200 medley relay team turned in a second-place performance of 1:46.41. The squad was made up of junior Joanna Budzis, Dixon, sophomore Veronica Lee and des Tombe.
Several other Panthers earned third-place finishes, including junior Brittany DiSanti in the 3M diving event (241.20* points), sophomores Tori Brungo in the 1M diving event (246.38 points), Lee in the 200 breast (2:19.56) and freshmen Emily Bolek in the 200 fly (2:05.26*) and Renee Deschenes in the 100 back (57.34*).
Sophomore Julie Harrison was named the Pitt Performer of the Meet after she set season bests in the 1000 free (10:14.91) and 200 IM (2:09.72).
The Panthers entertain Cincinnati at Joe C. Trees Pool on Friday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.
