Three Women's Track and Field Athletes Set Personal Bests

PITTSBURGH- The Pitt women's track and field team competed at both the Sea Ray Relays and the Bison Classic this past weekend. At the conclusion of the competitions, three Panthers set career best marks while eight placed.
At the Sea Ray Relays, the women's squad was highlighted by the relay teams. The 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 teams all placed.
The 4x100 team, comprised of sophomore Ashley Woodford, seniors Lanesha Pugh and Da'Lynn Mills, and junior Cambrya Jones raced to a third place finish in the event.
Woodford, Pugh and Mills teamed up with senior Anita James to capture third in the 4x200.
In the 4x400 relay, the squad of Fonrose, Mills, junior Miya Johnson and sophomore Jonnique Lawrence crossed the finish line in eighth place.
The women's team had breakthrough performances in the 200M dash with three setting personal bests. Pugh sprinted to a mark of 24.55 while Fonrose finished close behind at 25:76. Freshman Jordan Lee also set a personal best with a finishing time of 25.79. Jones led all Panthers with a time of 24.08, capturing eighth place.
In the women's long jump, James took seventh place (sixth among college participants) and senior Wunmi Fapohunda placed eighth among collegiate competitors.
At the Bison Classic at Bucknell, the Panthers also achieved success.
Sophomore Elizabeth Kline won the 100M hurdles, crossing the finish line at 15.35 while fellow sophomore Korinne Piper placed first in her section of the 800M run.
The Panthers return to action this upcoming week when the team sends members to both the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton, N.J. and the Legacy Track Meet in Baltimore, Md. Both meets begin on Friday, April 22 and conclude on April 23.
