Women's Track and Field Wins MSU Legacy Meet

PITTSBURGH- For the second consecutive year, the Pitt women's track and field team claimed first overall at the MSU Legacy track meet in Baltimore.
The squad placed in 19 events, highlighted by 11 top-three finishes, including four champions.
Pitt dominated the competition, scoring 124.5 points in the meet. Sacred Heart finished a distant second with 88 points.
The women's team had breakthrough performances in both the 100M and 200M dashes.
In the 100M dash, the Panthers notched the top three spots. Junior Cambrya Jones won the event with a time of 11.85 while senior Lanesha Pugh took second at 11.95. Sophomore Ashley Woodford finished close behind in third with a time of 11.98.
Jones also earned first in the 200M dash with a winning time of 24.19. Senior Da'Lynn Mills finished in second while Pugh placed seventh in the event.
In the 4x100 relay, the team of Woodford, Pugh, Jones, and senior Anita James crossed the finish line in first place (45.65).
Senior Tory Toso earned second in the pole vault with a distance of 3.31m.
In the triple jump, freshman Ashley Corum leaped to a first place finish of 12.05m. Corum also made her mark in the long jump with a career best mark of 5.47m.
Senior Leah Ulizio claimed third place in the javelin with a throw of 35.34m.
Sophomore Elizabeth Kline earned third place overall in the heptathlon, competing in the event for the first time.
The Panthers return to action this upcoming week when the team sends members to both the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and the Ashland Alumni Open in Ashland, Ohio.
