Panthers finish second in Cappy Anderson Invitational

PITTSBURGH- The Pitt cross country team participated in two events this weekend: the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md., and the Duquesne Tri-Meet held at Schenley Park.

At the Cappy Anderson Invitational, both the men’s and women’s teams finished in an impressive second place out of 10 competing teams.

The women’s squad had an impressive seven runners finish in the top 20 in the 5K race. They were led by freshman Morgan Perry’s fifth place finish at 18:34.68 and by sophomore Stephanie Powers 10th place showing at 19:09.14.

The Pitt men, running an 8K, also had an impressive four runners place in the top 20. The Panthers’ strong showing was highlighted by sophomore Ben Kisley’s fourth place finish with a time of 25:40.72 and sophomore Rich Addison finishing in 11th place at 26:29.87.

Meanwhile, at the Duquesne Tri-Meet, where a handful of Pitt women competed, the team finished in third place.

Freshman Grace Ribble paced the Panthers with a time of 21:32.

Pitt will return to action Sept. 30 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
