· With this evening's 35-23 win at Miami, the Panthers improve to 6-6 overall and are bowl eligible for the seventh consecutive season.
· Pitt's win over Miami is its first since the 1997 season, snapping a streak of eight consecutive losses in the series. The Panthers last defeated the Hurricanes on Sept. 18, 1997, a 21-17 decision at Pitt Stadium.
· Tonight's win is the Panthers' first road victory over the Hurricanes since 1963. Pitt was 0-9-1 in its last 10 road games at Miami. Prior to tonight, the Panthers' last road win in the series was a 31-20 decision on Nov. 30, 1963 in the Orange Bowl.
· Sophomore running back James Conner had two rushing touchdowns against Miami and surpassed three longstanding Pitt season records in the process. Conner now has 24 touchdowns (all by rush) for 144 points on the year to break the legendary Tony Dorsett's school season records for rush TDs (22), total TDs (23) and points (140). Dorsett set each of those three records during his 1976 Heisman Trophy season.
· James Conner already holds the ACC single-season rushing touchdowns record. Against Syracuse last week, Conner surpassed Virginia Tech's Ryan Williams, who had 21 in 2009.
· James Conner now has 2,474 rushing yards for his career to rank 10th all-time at Pitt.
· Sophomore receiver Tyler Boyd compiled a career-high 190 kickoff return yards (on six attempts), eclipsing his previous personal best of 102 against Duke this season.
· Freshman linebacker Quintin Wirginis deflected a Miami punt in the second quarter, resulting in a punt that travelled just 22 yards. It is the second time this year a Pitt player has gotten his hands on an opponent punt. At Virginia (Oct. 4), Dontez Ford blocked a punt.
· Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith made his second consecutive start. Jones-Smith has three starts on the season, each at left tackle.
· Sophomore Dontez Ford started at receiver for the second consecutive week.
