Sharp Dives At Winter Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last night, the 2014 USA Diving Winter National Championships wrapped up in Columbus, Ohio. The six-day event ran from Tuesday, Dec. 16 through Sunday, Dec. 21 and had one Pitt diver, freshman Meme Sharp, competing.
At her first Winter Nationals as a Pitt diver, Sharp competed in one individual event and one synchronized event.
Sharp began her stay at the event by participating in the senior women’s 1-meter springboard. In the prelims, she placed 29th with a score 220.10, and missed out on the finals. Later in the week, Sharp was half of 10th place tandem in the synchronized women’s 3-meter springboard, finishing with 473.10 points. After the prelims, the duo was also 10th with 234.96 points and did not change in the standings following the final.
Now that both swimming and diving winter nationals are complete, the entire Pitt swimming and diving team will resume its season against rival West Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 10.
