PITTSBURGH - Amanda Orchard of the University of Pittsburgh volleyball team was named to the AVCA Division I East Coast All-Region Team, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Tuesday afternoon.
"We couldn't be more proud of Amanda's accomplishments this season," said head coach Dan Fisher. "She is one of the hardest working student-athletes we have, and is great representative of the University of Pittsburgh and Pitt Volleyball."
This marks the junior's first All-Region honors and the Panthers' first since entering the ACC. Orchard will add this to her list of accolades which includes a First-Team All-ACC selection and an ACC Player of the Week nod during the season.
She had a standout year at middle hitter, posting a .431 hitting percentage to land her at No. 6 in the nation in that category after tallying 226 kills on 436 attempts. Orchard ended the season posting 21 matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or better along with 14 matches of hitting .500 or greater.
The last time a Panther was named to an All-Region Team was three years ago when Keisha Leggs was honored in 2011.
