CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Coming off a fourth place finish in her first collegiate race, freshman Beth Shenck was tabbed the Division I cross country Co-Rookie of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the organization announced on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Competing in the UB Stampede Invite, Shenck was the third Pitt runner to cross the finish line, completing the 5K course in a time of 18:31.4 Her performance, coupled with four other Panthers runners that finished in the top-6 overall, helped Pitt take first place in its season-opening meet.
Earlier in the week, senior Cullen Davis, of the men's team, was also recognized for his performance. The Atlantic Coast Conference named him its Co-Performer of the Week.
The Panthers will split its squad again this weekend, sending runners to both the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa. and to the Father Bede Invitational in Loretto, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
