PITTSBURGH - Head diving coach Julian Krug was recently selected to serve another two-year term as the Vice President for Senior Diving with U.S. Diving.
"It has been a very rewarding experience to be a part of U.S. Diving," said Krug. "But to be able to serve the organization, the sport, that I've been a part of for 58 years, it's a neat thing to be able to work with and help out with it."
Krug took over the title he currently holds back in 2007, and has yet to relinquish the position. However, this will be his final go around.
"This will definitely be my last term. Nobody has really stepped forward to run against me," Krug said. "So it has stayed with me and I will serve until someone is selected."
As the Vice President for Senior Diving, Krug oversees a committee and assists in running all of the senior national meets. Some of his duties range from approving the schedules to making decisions on emergency situations. Additionally, Krug used to handle some of the judging, but has transition into acting as just a referee now.
Krug initially got is start with U.S. Diving when it was first formed and is one of eight original life members. This is Krug's second stint as the Vice President for Senior Diving, having previously served an earlier four-year stint. Prior to either of his terms as Vice President, Krug was a member of the Board of Directors when USA Diving was established.
During his time at Pitt, Krug, who is entering his 37th year with the Pitt swimming and diving program, has developed eight All-American performers and eight more honorable mention All-Americans.
