PITTSBURGH-
Hey Panther Fans!
Sadly, summer vacation is now over with and a new school year has begun! However, this means that your favorite Pitt gymnasts are back in the gym and preparing for official preseason to begin. And between juggling new classes, attending mandatory student-athlete meetings, and adjusting to long, hard practices and conditioning sessions, the team looks ready and motivated for the long year ahead!
This season, the Pitt gymnastics team sees the addition of three incoming freshmen, Taylor Laymon, from North Carolina, Dani Hall, from Maryland, Maeghan Higdon, from Texas, a junior transfer from Western Michigan, Miya Dotson, and also the addition of a new assistant coach, Rob Drass. And each of these new faces has amazing talents to bring to the table. Whether we’re talking about Taylor’s beautiful lines on bars, Dani’s unique skills on all four events, Meaghan’s bubbly and entertaining personality, Miya’s high-flying potential and quick witted conversation, or Rob’s hands on and motivating coaching style, every single one of these additions is ready to do great things for this team. And On top of all those new faces, the team has also welcomed a new graduate assistant coach, Brittney Williams, a former Nebraska gymnast. Everyone’s excited to get to know Brittney, her coaching style, and see her experience in collegiate gymnastics come through her coaching.
Along with all the new faces Pitt Gymnastics is seeing this year, every returning gymnast has been in the gym, looking better and stronger than ever! Coming off of one of the hardest working summers we have had, everyone has improved and the team’s positivity is at an all time high! Although we’re facing a more challenging strength and conditioning regimen, the team is excited to see the outcome of
With a new school year in the midst, the team is also starting classes, study tables and meetings. Along with school, we try to support our fellow student-athletes as much as we can. We also make time to meet some new friends! So, if you’re as ready as we are for the new year and season to begin, then stay tuned for updates on your Panther Gymnasts’ progress with preseason and the upcoming season ahead!
Hail to Pitt!
