#18 Panthers Fall to #5 Oklahoma State, 36-0

PITTSBURGH - The No. 18 Pitt wrestling team suffered its first loss since November to No. 5 Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon at the Fitzgerald Field House. The Cowboys swept the Panthers, 36-0.

"Oklahoma State took it to us," head coach Jason Peters said. "We stood around and didn't get to our offense. They kept pressure on us and we didn't do a good job rising to it."

Two of the closest bouts of the day came at 133 and 197 pounds. Sophomore Dom Forys, ranked 16th in the country, dropped a 13-11 decision to Gary Wayne Harding in sudden victory. Later in the dual, redshirt senior Nick Bonaccorsi also suffered a loss in sudden victory, 6-4, to Andrew Marsden.

"We'll just keep training and try to get these guys to step up and do a little bit more," Peters said. "Virginia is a very different team than [Oklahoma State]. They could win nationals and we knew that coming in. I expected our guys to give more effort and a little more fight today. A lot of that was Oklahoma State. They just did a great job giving it to us and we didn't do a good enough job to meet that challenge. We have some work to do."

The Panthers will look to return to the win column next Sunday, Jan. 24 when they host No. 17 Virginia at 2 p.m.
