PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team upset EAGL foe and 15th ranked New Hampshire Saturday evening at the Fitzgerald Field House, 193.550-193.275.
The Panthers (2-5, 1-1 EAGL) overall score was a season-high, along with their event scores on bars, beam and floor. Pitt outscored the Wildcats (2-3, 0-2 EAGL) on bars (48.275-47.925) and floor (48.850-47.925).
Overall, the Panthers earned three first-place individual finishes, two of which were earned by junior Tracey Pearson and one by senior Lindsay Offutt. Pearson concluded her first meet competing in the all-around with a winning score and career-high of 38.875. She also placed first on vault for the second straight meet with a 9.750.
Offutt continued her success on floor, earning her third-straight first-place finish on the event by tying her season-high 9.900. Offutt also placed third in the all-around with a 38.750.

MEET RUNDOWN
The Panthers began the meet on vault with a 47.750. Pearson notched Pitt’s highest score on the event with a 9.750, which gave the junior her second first-place finish on vault this season. Senior Miya Dotson placed fifth with the Panthers’ second-highest score and season-high, a 9.650.
Pitt was outstanding on bars in its second rotation, scoring a season-high 48.725 while placing three gymnasts in the top-5. Dotson placed second with a season-high 9.800, while Offutt followed in third with a 9.775 and sophomore Taylor Laymon tied for fourth scoring a 9.750.
Following the second rotation, Pitt led No. 15 New Hampshire 96.475-96.150.
The Panthers continued to compete well, finishing their third rotation on beam with a season high 48.225. Offutt, along with Kelly Burak each posted a 9.725 to lead Pitt. Burak’s score was a season-high for the junior. New Hampshire (49.200), who is ranked third in the country on beam, earned the top four finishes on the event, with first and second place scoring a 9.925.
Following the third rotation, the Panthers continued to hold a slight lead over the Wildcats 144.700-144.075.
Pitt solidified its win on floor with a season-high 48.850. Offutt shined for Pitt on the event registering a first-place score of 9.900, tying her season-high. Pearson followed behind Offutt with a season-high 9.850, which placed her second in the overall standings. Dotson rounded out the top-5, tying for the spot with a season-high 9.750.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will head to East Lansing, Mich., next weekend where they will take on Rutgers, EAGL foe Towson and host Michigan State. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
