PITTSBURGH—Pitt senior diver Dominic Giordano was named the ACC Male Diver of the Week for the second consecutive time as the conference office unveiled its weekly swimming & diving honors Tuesday.
Giordano, a native of Wexford, Pa., had a crucial role in the Pitt men's victory over Buffalo last Friday as his dominant individual victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives helped lift the Panthers to a narrow 151-149 team win against the Bulls.
The reigning NCAA individual champion on 3M, Giordano went big in the event with a six-dive score of 404.93, while his point total of 391.58 on 1M was one of the best marks of his collegiate career in the event. Both of his point totals easily surpassed NCAA zone standards and kept Giordano perfect in winning every diving event he has competed in thus far in 2016-17.
This was Giordano's sixth career ACC Diver of the Week nod and his second this season.
The Panthers return to action at Trees Pool this weekend with their first two-day meet of the season as ACC rivals Notre Dame and Virginia Tech come to Pittsburgh for an exciting test for head coach John Hargis' Pitt teams.
