PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh student-athletes Aysia Bugg and Quadree Henderson were named First National Bank Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Bugg, a junior, led the women’s basketball team to a 3-0 week while averaging 14.3 points and 5.7 assists per game. She showed efficiency at the point guard position, posting 17 assists and just three turnovers over the three contests for a +5.6 assist/turnover ratio. She scored in double figures in all three games, recording a season-high 17 points against Slippery Rock (Nov. 23). Last time out, she started her 40th consecutive game in a Pitt uniform when the Panthers defeated Cornell, 56-44, Saturday night at Petersen Events Center.

The Wilmington, Del., native averaged 18.7 yards on three punt returns (56 yards), 24.5 on four kickoffs (98 yards) and an incredible 20.6 on five rushes (103 yards). He had a 66-yard touchdown burst off a jet sweep to give Pitt a 49-21 lead in the third quarter. His performance helped the Panthers achieve their highest single-game point total since 1977. On Monday, he was named ACC Specialist of the Week for the fifth time. His five Specialist of the Week awards are the most by an ACC player this season. He was previously honored for his performances in the Penn State, Virginia, Miami and Duke contests.
The Pitt women’s basketball team will host Purdue as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET at Petersen Events Center. All students in attendance will receive free pizza at halftime, and Oakland Zoo members will get four loyalty points.
