PITTSBURGH – Pitt forward Michael Young was named ACC Player of the Week by collegesportsmadness.com after leading the Panthers to wins over Buffalo and Penn State. The Duquesne, Pa., native averaged 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while going 14-of-27 (.519) from the field and 15-of-20 (.750) from the free throw line as Pitt improved to 8-2 on the year.
Young opened the week with 17 points and seven rebounds in just 23 minutes of against in the win over the Bulls. He posted his seventh 20+ point game of the season against Penn State in the Never Forget Tribute Classic, finishing with 29 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field and 11-of-14 from the foul line. He knocked down a pair of three-point field goals and also had nine rebounds in the win over the Nittany Lions.
Young leads the ACC in scoring (23.0 ppg.) and 20-point games (7), while also ranking among the conference leaders in rebounds (8.0 rpg. – 9th), field goal percentage (.521 – 7th) and free throw percentage (.827 – 10th). He is one of four players in the NCAA averaging at least 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
