PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team announced its promotional schedule for the 2017 season Tuesday afternoon as the Panthers gear up to host four home meets at Fitzgerald Field House.
Looking to defend their EAGL title, the Panthers will host Big 10 powerhouse Ohio State on Jan. 7, followed by a Backyard Brawl with West Virginia on Jan. 13. Pitt will return to Fitzgerald Field House on Jan. 27 to host North Carolina and will close out the home schedule on March 3 in a quad-meet with West Virginia, Michigan State and Towson.
The regular season opener with Ohio State will be Youth/Club Night as all youth and club teams can purchase discounted tickets. All youth gymnasts who wear their favorite leotard will be entered to win a Pitt gymnastics leotard.
In addition, the first 250 fans will receive a Pitt Gymnastics t-shirt. Fans are also encouraged to follow along on the Pitt Athletics Snapchat (@Pitt_ATHLETICS) account and use the exclusive geofilter as well as tagging #PittGymSelfie on Twitter and Instagram to win prizes throughout the meet.
The first of two Backyard Brawl meets will take place on Jan. 13 as the Panthers celebrate National Sticker Day. The first 200 fans will receive a Pitt gymnastics script decal. All former Pitt gymnastics campers are invited back for the meet and can RSVP to Cayla Morgan (cmorgan@athletics.pitt.edu) by Jan. 11.
Additionally, free pizza will be available for all Pitt students.
The Jan. 27 meeting with EAGL foe North Carolina will be the annual Pink Meet with the first 400 fans receiving a pink rally towel. Fans who wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness will receive free admission to the meet.
The home portion of the regular season will come to an end on March 3 with a bevy of celebrations at The Fitz. In addition to Senior Night, the Panthers will also welcome Pitt gymnastics alumni to return. All alums can RSVP to the event by Feb. 24 to Cayla Morgan (cmorgan@athletics.pitt.edu).
The date will serve as Employee Appreciation day as Pitt faculty and staff receive free admission and concession deals with a valid Pitt ID. Free face fans will also be given away to help fans cheer on their Panthers!
All home meets are slated for 6:30 p.m. ET. Post-meet autograph sessions will happen at the conclusion of all home meets.
