BALTIMORE, Md. – University of Pittsburgh gymnast Lindsay Offutt was named EAGL Senior Gymnast of the year, as announced by the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Friday, March 17.
“Senior gymnast of the year is a well-deserved award,” head coach Debbie Yohman said. “Lindsay [Offutt] has been outstanding this year but also during her whole career. This is really a reflection and recognition of the four years she’s put in here at Pitt.”
Offutt is having a record-breaking season for the Panthers, which started with shattering the 17 year old all-around record that has stood since 1999. The White Lake, Mich., native broke the previous record of 39.400, which was owned by Danielle Alba when she scored a career-high 39.575 versus Towson and Penn in February.
Offutt either holds or shares second place in the record book on bars, beam and floor and in 2016 alone scored three of the top-10 all-around scores in Pitt history, along with one bars, one floor and two beam marks.
Offutt has led the team in individual victories this season, as she won at least one event or all-around title in nine of eleven total meets. She has additionally placed first on an event 22 times this year.
Recently, the senior was named to the All-EAGL first team of every event including the all-around. She was the only gymnast in the conference to accomplish this feat. Offutt was also awarded All-Scholastic honors and EAGL Gymnast of the Week honors three times this season.
