Sharp Qualifies for NCAAs on 1M Board

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Meme Sharp punched her ticket to the 2016 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships with a fourth-place finish on the 1M board in day one action at the Zone A Diving Championships.
Sharp posted a prelim and final combined score of 567.00 to place fourth. The ACC Champion on the 1M, Sharp is one of just two ACC divers to advance to NCAAs, besting Virginia’s Rebecca Corbett’s fifth-place score of 566.80.
Samantha Winkelmann placed 24th in the preliminary round of the 1M, earning a score of 231.85. Rachel Saunders took 35th with a score of 212.60 and Cheyanne Neuenschwander placed 57th with a mark of 169.50.
On the men’s side, Dominic Giordano narrowly missed the cut on the 3M board, placing seventh with a combined prelim and final score of 671.30. The top five spots were made up of two Penn State divers and three Virginia Tech divers.
Competing in the preliminary round on the 3M board, Tony Galante earned 24th with a score of 275.65.
The Panthers will return to action tomorrow as the women take to the 3M board and the men head to the 1M board. Preliminaries are set to begin at noon from Annapolis.
