INDIANAPOLIS - Rising junior Meme Sharp's Olympic run came to an end Tuesday morning, as she narrowly missed the cut in the preliminary round on the 3M at the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis.
Sharp finished with a five-dive total of 219.90 to place 22nd, as the top 18 advanced to the semifinal round.
The reigning ACC Champion, Sharp opened with a strong 52.50 to tie for 14th in the first round. She would drop to 16th in the following dive after a 50.40 brought her total to 102.90.
Sharp would remain in the hunt following a third dive score of 37.50, which pushed her total to 140.40 and 18th place.
A score of 34.50 in the fourth round and 45.00 in the final round would eliminate Sharp from contention as she posted a final total of 219.90 to take 22nd.
Sharp is the second Pitt diver to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, as teammate Dominic Giordano also participated on the 3M yesterday afternoon. The reigning NCAA Champion missed the semifinal cut, taking 33rd with a score of 290.10.
