Panther Women to Compete at St. Vincent Invitational

PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh women's cross country team will compete at the St. Vincent Invitational hosted by St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., at 10:45 a.m. ET Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT -- TOMMY EVANS INVITATIONAL

Sophomore Gillian Schriever earned the first individual win of her Pitt cross country career as the Panther women and men swept the Tommy Evans Invitational in Norton, Ohio (Sept. 9).
Aaron Lauer was Pitt's top finisher on the men's side, runner-up at 20:06.7 in the four-mile race.
The women's squad swept the top five spots of the race, while the men claimed three of top five and five of the top 10.

WEEKLY HONORS ROUND-UP

Schriever was named First National Bank Female Athlete of the Week for her first-place performance at the Tommy Evans Invitational (Sept. 9), announced Tuesday. She posted the first individual win of her Pitt cross country career with a time of 17:53.3. Since the event was the first collegiate meet on the dedicated cross-country only 5K course at the Silver Creek Metro Park, her time counts as a course record.
Nick Wolk was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Week, announced Tuesday. Wolk had the top finish by any freshman at the Tommy Evans Invitational (Sept. 9), taking fourth place as Pitt went 4-0 in dual meet competition. The McMurray, Pa., native was Pitt's No. 3 finisher, behind a junior and a redshirt senior, posting a 6.4K course time of 20:23.1.

LOOKING AHEAD

The men and women will both be in action at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 24. The men's 8K will start at 1:20 p.m. ET and the women's 6K will start at 2:35 p.m. ET.
