Panthers to Host Four Home Meets at the Fitzgerald Field House
2018 Schedule | Single-Meet Tickets
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team and first-year head coach Samantha Snider released the 2018 schedule Monday, Oct. 2, which features four home meets.
The Panthers' slate will be no easy feat, as they are set to take on five teams that finished in the top 25 last season, including one in the top 10 in Nebraska.
"I couldn't be more excited to get my first season of competition underway," said Snider. "This year's slate will make for a competitive, yet exciting season that will help push Pitt to the next level. We will be competing against some of the top teams in the nation, not only within our conference, but in the Big Ten and SEC as well."
Pitt opens the 2018 season with back-to-back home dual meets against Oregon State (Jan. 13) and EAGL foe New Hampshire (Jan. 20). The Beavers finished the 2017 season ranked No. 11 in the country.
The team will then make its way to Michigan State for a quad meet with Rutgers and Eastern Michigan (Jan. 27).
Following the Panthers return home for its lone quad meet of the season against conference foes NC State and Towson, in addition to Temple (Feb. 3), Pitt will hit the road for three consecutive weeks.
The squad will begin their road stint in Denton, Texas taking on Texas Woman's University along with Auburn and NC State (Feb. 11), before continuing on to West Virginia, where the Mountaineers will play host to the Panthers and Maryland (Feb. 18).
Pitt will close out the road trip in Lincoln, Neb., where the Panthers will face the Cornhuskers in a dual meet (Feb. 24).
Rivalry weekend follow Pitt's trip out west, as Penn State and West Virginia will both make the short drive to Pittsburgh for a tri-meet at the Fitzgerald Field House to close out the Panthers' home slate (March 4).
Pitt will end the 2018 regular season with back-to-back road weekends, the first being at George Washington (March 11) and the second at EAGL foe North Carolina (March 17). The Colonials were crowned EAGL Champion last year and finished the 2017 season ranked 20th in the nation.
The 2018 EAGL Championship will take place March 24 at 2 p.m. in Maryland as Towson is set to host.
