GREENSBORO, N.C.—Pitt senior diver Meme Sharp and current Panthers' diving volunteer assistant coach and former NCAA champion Dominic Giordano finished up action at the USA Diving Winter National Championships as the pair had a successful meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Sharp won the USA Diving Winter Nationals 1-meter springboard title Wednesday before finishing her meet with a 15th-place finish on 3-meter on Friday evening. The Pitt senior finished with 451.50 points on 3-meter after her efforts in the preliminary and semifinal rounds of diving.
Giordano, the 2016 NCAA 3-meter springboard diving champion while representing the Panthers, also competed in the men's 1-meter and 3-meter competitions this weekend as the Pitt volunteer assistant diving coach continues to prepare for future marquee USA Diving events.
On Saturday, Giordano placed ninth on 3-meter with 679.90 points after several rounds of diving against the nation's best. He also took 11th on 1-meter earlier in the week in Greensboro.
After the New Year, Pitt swimming & diving will return to dual meet action when the Panthers travel to West Virginia for the annual Backyard Brawl meet on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. in Morgantown, W.Va.
