
Pitt Takes Third in Quad-Meet at NC State

CARY, N.C. - Continuing their February road trip, the University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team took third in a quad-meet at EAGL rival North Carolina State Friday evening at Reynolds Coliseum in Cary, N.C.
Pitt (5-6, 0-4 EAGL) earned a team score of 194.075 to place third. North Carolina finished on top with a score of 195.675, followed by host NC State in second with a score of 195.025. William & Mary rounded out the competition with a mark of 193.025.
Senior Tracey Pearson claimed the Panthers' only individual title of the evening, capturing the top spot on vault with a mark of 9.875.
BARS
The Panthers kicked things off on uneven bars, earning a team score of 48.625, their third highest score of the season. Taylor Laymon led the way for the Panthers, earning a score of 9.825 to tie for fifth place. Lucy Brett would score a 9.800 to tie for seventh. Freshman Hallie Peele placed 10th with a score of 9.750, while Pearson and Dani Hall tied for 18th with scores of 9.625.
BEAM
Pitt faltered a bit on beam, posting a team score of 47.950. Senior co-captain Kelly Burak paced the Panthers, earning a score of 9.850 to tie for second. Brittany West would tie for sixth with a score of 9.800, while Krista Collins would tie for 10th with a mark of 9.700.
FLOOR
Alecia Petrikis set the tone for Pitt on floor, as the freshman posted a career-best 9.875 to tie for second as the Panthers earned a team score of 48.975, their second highest of the season. Pearson would tie for fifth with a score of 9.850 and was followed by Hall, who tied for 10th with a mark of 9.775. Reichert wasn't far behind, tying for 13th with a score of 9.750.
VAULT
Pitt wrapped up the evening on vault, earning a team score of 48.525. Pearson earned her third straight title on the apparatus, dominating the competition with a score of 9.875. Meagan Oscar would tie for fourth with a score of 9.750, while Collins tied for 12th with a score of 9.700.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will travel to a five-team meet in the nation's capital next weekend, as the Panthers are set to square off with George Washington, Iowa, William & Mary and Maryland. Pitt then heads to State College, Pa., for a dual with rival Penn State on Feb. 25.
