
Pearson, Laymon Gear Up for NCAA Regionals

PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh gymnasts Tracey Pearson and Taylor Laymon are preparing to travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to compete in the 2017 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
Pearson will compete on vault with Laymon taking part on uneven bars. Pearson will also serve as an alternate on floor exercise. Pitt will rotate with host West Virginia.
The selection is the second consecutive for Pearson as she competed in the all-around in Ann Arbor, Mich., last season. Pearson placed 14th in the all-around with a score of 38.125, tallying a 9.800 on floor and 9.675 on vault to highlight her performance.
The Regional will be the second of her career for Laymon as her RQs of 9.820 earned the junior a spot. Her bars score ranks 10th in the region and eighth in the conference.
Pearson and Laymon will compete for a spot at NCAA Nationals as action in Morgantown, W.Va., is slated for April 1 at 4 p.m.
