All Pitt Sports Show Re-Airs Fridays and Tuesdays
PITTSBURGH – AT&T SportsNet will air the series premiere of Pitt Athletics' new television show "Pitt: Beyond the Script" Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. The 30-minute show, produced by Pittsburgh-based Awesome Films in collaboration with Pitt's broadcast and video production department dubbed Pitt Studios, is scheduled for 25 episodes to air between Thursday's debut through March.
"We are incredibly excited about the launch of our new Pitt Athletics show on AT&T SportsNet," said Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "We talk a lot about comprehensive excellence and what that means is that we have great expectations for each of our 19 teams. We want them all to be in a position to compete for ACC and National Championships. 'Pitt: Beyond the Script' allows us to showcase the high caliber coaches and student-athletes in our programs and highlight the progress they are making. As a consumer of a lot of sporting events, what gets me most connected to the teams is when I know the coaches and players behind the programs. We are going to continue building our following by showing Pitt fans the tremendous people who are helping make Pitt great. And this show gives us a platform to showcase the quality of the students and athletes we have in our department and the extraordinary coaches we have teaching them every day."
"Pitt: Beyond the Script", hosted by Rob King of AT&T SportsNet, will provide a unique view of Pitt Athletics with exclusive access, including weekly coach and player interviews, highlights, feature stories and behind-the-scenes coverage, of Pitt's 19-sport athletic department.
Episode 1 features interviews with head football coach Pat Narduzzi and new defensive coordinator Randy Bates as the Panthers prepare to open the 2018 season Saturday, Sept. 1 at Heinz Field against Albany. In addition, the episode contains segments on the Pitt men's and women's soccer programs led by National Championship winning coaches Randy Waldrum and Jay Vidovich, as well as the defending ACC Champion Pitt volleyball team led by 2017 ACC Coach of the Year Dan Fisher.
In addition to Thursday's initial airing, AT&T SportsNet will also re-air each episode Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. Segments of the show as well as full runs will also be available on www.pittsburghpanthers.com.
