PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh honored 11 members of the 2020 Hall of Fame class at this year's Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner, presented by PNC, Friday evening at Heinz Field.
Established in 2018, the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes and honors student-athletes, coaches, teams and other members of the University of Pittsburgh community who have performed with distinction and been instrumental in the success of Pitt Athletics. Profiles for all Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame inductees are available HERE.
The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department postponed the induction of the 14-member Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame 2020 class until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Three members of the 2020 class – Donna DeMarino Sanft (Gymnastics Student-Athlete and Coach), Ann Marie Lucanie (Volleyball) and Pat Santoro (Wrestling) - were unable to attend Friday and will be honored with the 2022 induction class next year.
Pitt's 2020 induction class will also be recognized during the Panthers football game against Clemson at Heinz Field Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m. – ESPN). The Panthers enter Saturday's contest ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Poll and atop the ACC Coastal Division.
