PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh swimming & diving program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Under first year head coach, Chase Kreitler, the Panther's are slated for six home meets at Trees Pool and five road competitions, leading up to the postseason.
The Panthers open their season hosting a tri-meet against two challenging opponents, Penn State and Notre Dame, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 21-22.
"As we put the meet schedule together, it was a priority to go head-to-head with great teams that will help prepare us for success at the ACC and NCAA Championships," said Kreitler. "We've got fun ACC match ups with Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and non-conference meets with Penn State, George Washington, West Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin. We will also see several top 5 teams from last year's NCAA Championships at the Minnesota Invite. This is definitely the tough schedule, but we are looking forward to the challenge!"
November kicks off with the Panthers first road meet of the season at Georgia Tech, Saturday, Nov. 5. The next two meets will only contain diving events, followed by two meets with only swimming events. The diving program will host George Washington (Nov. 11-12) before traveling to the Ohio State Invite (Nov. 17-19). The swimming program will also host the Colonials (Nov. 18-19) prior to traveling to the Minnesota Invite (Nov. 30-Dec. 3).
Pittsburgh rounds out the calendar year with the Diving Winter Nationals at West Virginia (Dec. 11-18) and hosting the Team Pitt Christmas Meet (Dec. 15-17). In the new year, the Panthers host two consecutive meets at Trees Pool: a dual meet with West Virginia (Jan. 14) followed by the annual Western PA Invite, which will also serve as the Senior Meet, from Jan. 27-28.
The regular season concludes with the Panthers traveling to Michigan (Jan. 28) to face the Wolverines and Wisconsin, prior competing at the Ohio State Winter Invite (Feb. 10-12) to close out the season.
The Panthers post season begins on Feb. 14-18 in Greensboro, N.C., with the men's and women's ACC Championships. The NCAA Zone A Diving Meet is scheduled for March 6-8 at West Virginia.
The 2022-23 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships are set for consecutive weeks in March. The NCAA Women's Championships will be from March 14-18 in Knoxville, Tenn. before the NCAA Men's Championships take place from March 23-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Admission will be free for all home events.
