Stout Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

PITTSBURGH — Redshirt junior Mac Stout was named ACC Wrestler of the Week following strong performances against Navy and winning the Navy Classic at 197-pounds over the weekend.
Stout opened his junior campaign in dominant fashion, posting a 5-0 record with two victories over Top 20 opponents. Three of his five wins came by technical fall, highlighted by a commanding 20-4 tech fall over No. 6 Camden McDanel of Nebraska in the finals of the Navy Classic to capture the 197-pound title.
Stout began the weekend with a victory over No. 20 Payton Thomas in Pitt's dual win at Navy, then followed with a 4-0 performance at the Navy Classic. He recorded three technical falls in the tournament, opening with back-to-back tech falls over Josh Anthony (Navy) and Donovan Sprouse (George Mason), both in under three minutes. After a 5-1 decision over Zyan Hall (Navy) in the semifinals, Stout capped off his run with an impressive 20-4 tech fall win over All-American and sixth-ranked Camden McDanel of Nebraska to secure the title.
The Panthers return to action Saturday with a dual meet at Buffalo (Nov. 8 - 4 p.m.) before hosting Princeton the following week for their home opener (Nov. 14 - 7 p.m.).
