
Cash Wins Second Bronze; Panthers Sets Three School Records on Penultimate Day in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC – Men's diver Cameron Cash won his second medal of the ACC Championships when he took bronze on the platform dive Friday evening. The Pitt swim team would go on to set three more school records as they brought their total to 21 for the week.
Cash scored a 405.45 en route to taking home the fourth ACC medal of his career. The Senior from The Woodlands, TX also won bronze on the men's 3-Meter on Tuesday Night.
Pitt's swimming and diving team broke three school records and had nine student-athletes qualify for finals on Friday. Cam Cash and Jackson Salisbury each qualified for the A-Final in the men's platform dive.
Prelims
Claire Jansen and Sydney Gring each took turns setting the school record for the women's 100 back. At the time of Gring's personal best time of 51.96, it was a Pitt record. However, once Jansen's heat came up, she went half a second lower for her personal best and a new school record of 51.40. They would both qualify for the B-Final.
In the men's 100 back, Krystof Radziszewski qualified for the B-Final with his 46.05 while freshman Mason Leach swam a personal best 46.63 and qualified for the C-Final.
Pitt's women swam strong races in the 100 breast, as Jess Strong qualified for the C-Final with a 1:01.61. Angelina Messina swam a 1:02.32 but just missed the finals.
In their first taste of the ACC Championships, Eli Hobson and Carson Witte each qualified for the C-Final with personal best times in the men's 100 breast. The freshman, Hobson, swam a 52.74 while the transfer junior, Hobson, swam a 53.12.
The Panthers had three divers in the top 10 and four finish in the top 25 on the men's platform. Cash and Salisbury each qualified for the finals, while Chase Marafioto earned the best finish of his career at ACCs as he took ninth. Freshman Noah Bernard finished 21st and also scored points for the team.
Finals
In Friday night's finals, Cameron Cash won his second bronze medal of the week as he took third on the men's platform. Fellow diver, Jackson Salisbury, finished 6th with a 317.80. He finished fifth in the event last season.
The women's 400 medley relay team of Claire Jansen, Jess Strong, Sophie Yendell and Sydney Gring finished eighth overall with a school record 3:31.67 and an NCAA B-Cut. Their school record marked the 21st of the week for the Panthers, matching Pitt's historic showing at the 2023 ACC Championships.
Jansen (51.94) and Gring (52.21) would finish 11th and 13th respectively overall in the women's 100 back while Radziszewski (46.13) would finish 15th and Leach (47.27) would place 24th in the men's 100 back.
Jess Strong bested her prelim time in finals, placing 18th in the women's 100 breast with her 1:00.98.
Newcomers to Pitt, Hobson and Witte finished 19th and 24th respectively in the men's 100 breast. Hobson finished with a 52.51 while Witte swam a 53.38.
