
Panthers Close Out Memorable Week at ACC Championships, Women Earn Highest Finish Since 2015

GREENSBORO, NC - The Panthers set 26 school records at the ACC Championships this week at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Pitt's women earned their highest finish at ACCs since 2015, finishing eighth overall with 462 points. The men placed 10th with 456.5 points.
The Panthers set five more school records today, capping off a memorable week in the pool and on the diving boards.
Prelims
Pitt had seven more student-athletes qualify for finals on Saturday morning while they broke three more records.
Sophomore Mariana Osorio Mendoza finished in seventh in prelims and qualified for A-Finals of the women's platform with her 290.85. In addition to Osorio Mendoza, three other Panthers scored points on the platform. Jess Vega placed 10th, Jocelyn Brooks placed 19th and Megan Iannon finished 21st. It's the second-consecutive day that Pitt had four divers score points. Cameron Cash, Jackson Salisbury, Chase Marafioto and Noah Bernard all finished in the points yesterday.
Pitt had three finalists for the 200 back between the men and women. Claire Jansen set yet another school record this week during her preliminary swim, finishing with a 1:53.38. Kimmy Shannon would qualify for the C-Final, swimming a 1:55.86 in the 200 back.
Marcin Goraj placed 13th in prelims and qualified for B-Final after swimming a 1:41.30 in the 200 back.
The Panther women took turns breaking the 100 freestyle record on Saturday morning. When Sophie Yendell swam a personal best 48.77, it was a Pitt school record. However, Avery Kudlac followed that performance with a 48.45 as she qualified for C-Finals and reclaimed her school record in the women's 100 freestyle.
Freshman Julian Koch qualified for his third individual final of the week after he posted a 42.49 in the men's 100 freestyle, qualifying for the B-Final.
Fifth-year senior Max Matteazzi, who's set five school records this week in Greensboro, qualified for yet another final. In the men's 200 breast, Matteazzi posted a 1:54.01 and qualified for B-Finals.
Finals
The Panther 400 freestyle relay teams tallied the 25th and 26th school records of the week as Pitt's ACC Championships came to a close.
The women's team of Avery Kudlac, Sophie Yendell, Claire Jansen and Sydney Gring re-set their school record from earlier this season at the Texas Invitational, swimming a 3:14.18 in Greensboro.
Julian Koch, Marcin Goraj, Krzysztof Radziszewski and Donat Fabian combined for 2:51.26 as they set the final school record of the week.
Claire Jansen and Marcin Goraj each placed 15th in the 200 back. Jansen swam a 1:54.06 in the women's while Goraj posted a 1:41.89 in the men's 200 back.
Freshman Julian Koch posted a 42.97 and placed 16th overall in the men's 100 freestyle. Max Matteazzi finished 12th in the men's 200 breast with his swim of 1:53.81.
Women's diver Mariana Osorio Mendoza placed 6th (278.70) on the women's platform dive, the highest finish at ACCs of her young career.
